Dortmund honcho speaks about selling Aubameyang

It would be jaw-dropping if Liverpool signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but it’s not going to happen.

The Gabonese striker is contacted to Borussia Dortmund and his German club have no intention of selling – unless one of Barcelona or Real Madrid come in with a ridiculous offer.

That’s according to general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke, anyway.

“I think he will stay with us,” Watze said on Sport1, translated by the Metro.

“But if they Real Madrid or Barcelona come in for him, maybe they would think it.

“Every other team aren’t a reasonable alternative for him, and we’re not going to let him go to Bayern.”

This term, the 27-year-old has scored 32 goals in all competitions, reaffirming his reputation as one of the best strikers on the planet.

He’s quick, skilful and a superb finisher, but we have to accept he’s not going to join Liverpool.

We do need a new forward in the summer though, especially with Daniel Sturridge expected to leave in the summer.

Perhaps we could target Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, who’s plundered goals in France for years.

He’ll be expensive, but if we qualify for the Champions League, the Frenchman is the kind of player we should target.
