Klopp explains why he likes Liverpool being under pressure

It seems fair to say not all Liverpool fans would welcome the kind of pressure this team finds itself under at the moment.

Having Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal lurking isn’t making watching Liverpool play any easier, nor is Watford’s Sebastian Prödl hitting the crossbar in injury time.

Jurgen Klopp, however, believes the current pressure his team is under is good in driving the players to finish the season strongly and ensure they get the top four spot they deserve.

“We need to stay focused and we need to stay concentrated. We have pressure, yes – but pressure in the end of the season, in this period, means you fight for something. It’s a positive pressure, so we want to keep this – we want to keep this pressure high, we want to stay focused, we want to work hard and do everything for the points we can get,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We don’t expect for a second that it will be easy. If anybody here thinks we already have the three points against Southampton then you could not have seen Southampton this season because they are a really strong side.”

Liverpool have three games to see this through, three games against opponents these players are more than capable of overcoming. Securing Champions League qualification would pose as a monumental achievement and a solid foundation for Klopp to build on.

Be brave, Reds. Earn the opportunity to compete with Europe’s elite clubs. An opportunity Liverpool deserve more than the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

Taking it one game at a time is a familiar focus and one Klopp is sure to implement again between now and the end of the season.
