Jurgen Klopp reportedly eyeing up double raid for Bundesliga duo

Jurgen Klopp is set to turn to the talent boasted by Bundesliga side RB Leipzig as he looks to strengthen his squad depth in the summer transfer window.

The Reds boss is keen on signing forward Timo Werner as well as midfielder Naby Keita, according to the Independent.

Keita has emerged as a priority target in recent months with Klopp intent on bolstering the spine of his team and seemingly viewing adding the Guinean’s energy, athleticism and defensive capabilities as an ideal way in which to do so.

Comparisons between the 22-year-old and Chelsea sensation N’Golo Kante have been the basis of a growing excitement surrounding what he could offer in England’s top flight. £26million has previously been identified as his value, which would be well within Liverpool’s reach given the record transfer budget Klopp is set to have at his disposal.

Interest in Werner recognises a desire to introduce further attacking options with the German having scored 21 goals in 31 games this season. The 21-year-old has been a star performer in a Leipzig side that will finish second having taken the Bundesliga by storm in their first season since earning promotion.

Liverpool’s supposed intention to bring in further attacking reinforcements once again poses questions over what the future holds for striker Daniel Sturridge, who had been strongly tipped to leave Anfield this summer before his emphatic peformance against West Ham led many to believe he could yet stay.

It has the makings to be an interesting summer on Merseyside.
