This summer, Liverpool need to keep our best players and bring in some more to supplement them, ahead of a Champions League campaign in 2017/18.
Coutinho has proven over the past few months that he’s not only one of our best players, but one of the most effective playmakers in Europe.
His goal against Middlesbrough was his 13th of the Premier League season – a very decent return considering the time he missed through injury.
As a result, there’s heavy interest from Barcelona, who want to reinforce after their failure to win La Liga or the Champions League this year.
But thankfully, Coutinho’s head hasn’t been turned and has reminded fans and the media of his lengthy contract.
‘I have a long contract with Liverpool,’ he told ESPN Brasil, cited in the Metro, after yesterday’s win.
‘Speculations are for journalists only.’
Jurgen Klopp has also reiterated that Coutinho is here to stay, and thankfully, his deal runs until 2022 and there’s no release clause – so there’s no way a club can easily buy him.
Next season, we can see Coutinho genuinely establishing himself as one of the best players in the world.
