More injury problems for LFC in same position spells potential problems

Nathaniel Clyne is already expected to miss the start of the season with back problems, but one of his potential replacements is now also facing a spell on the sidelines.

Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn’t risked on Saturday either, but now either the teenager or his older Scouse team-mate Jon Flanagan are the only two options for the position.

Alexander-Arnold is the far more talented, but doubts about his defensive maturity mean Jurgen Klopp may use Flanagan, a safer option for the beginning of the Premier League season – arguably.

Either way, it’s fortunate that we’re so well stocked at right-back. If this was any other position, especially centre-back, we’d be in serious trouble with three absentees.
