Coutinho update: Club & Player clash on plans for his LFC future

Posted by

Guillem Balague has confirmed that while Coutinho is not happy at Liverpool and wants to leave, the club will simply not sell him and will equally refuse to meet Barcelona to discuss a deal.

On Friday, fans and the club alike received the devastating news that our no.10 had handed in a transfer request in order to force a move to the Spanish giants.

However, Liverpool rejected his request and have told Barca not to waste their time making another offer, as whatever the number, it’ll be ignored.

Here’s what Balague said on Twitter:

Coutinho will keep trying ‘whatever it takes’ to go to Barcelona. But Liverpool insist: he is NOT for sale. LFC have no plans to meet FCB.

Coutinho’s transfer request does not change at this point the “definitive stance” of the club. They do not want to get rid of him.

Klopp’s words interpreted as him resigned to lose him but he’s actually confirming that he is not for sale. Not everybody want to listen.

Liverpool now face the task of reintegrating an unhappy player into the squad, but with the World Cup taking place in Russia at the end of the season, Coutinho will know he cannot afford to sulk.

He’s always come across as such as model professional, hence why his behaviour has shocked and upset fans – but if he continues this term where he left the last – it’ll be forgotten until the end of the campaign.

In summer 2018, we can imagine we will let the South American move to Barca, but for now – he needs to accept that the five year contract he signed in January is a legally binding document.
