Coutinho to Barcelona is now impossible; LFC to plan on reintegrating Brazilian

As of last night, Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho ended in a fashion which has embarrassed their supporters the world over.

The Catalans gave Liverpool a deadline of 7pm Sunday to accept the £118m bid for the Brazilian that we’d already turned down.

Obviously, Liverpool scoffed at their demand and chose to stand strong – and now the Spanish journalists who’ve been shouting the deal from the roof tops have admitted Barca’s pursuit of Coutinho is over.

Instead, they’ll focus on Ousmane Dembele, Angel di Maria and Jean Michael Seri.

Coutinho is very unhappy at Liverpool denying him the move and the club now has a difficult job on its hand to get him back on board.

With us hopefully competing in the Champions League; and a World Cup to look forward to at the end of the campaign, he has little choice but to get his head right and do a job on the pitch.

We expect Barca to come back next summer for Phil, when we’ll likely be more inclined to let him go – providing he puts in a year’s hard work – just like Luis Suarez did in 2013/14.
