CCTV footage of the moment a gang of thugs smashed through Dejan Lovren’s patio doors has been released in an attempt to identify the culprits.
On Wednesday evening, as our injured Croatian defender watched Liverpool batter Maribor 3-0, three masked intruders attempted a break in – but ran off when a neighbour shouted to them that she was calling the police.
On the same night, Sadio Mane’s house was burgled, although there’s no indication the incidents are as of yet connected.
The offences are the latest in a long line of Liverpool players’ houses being targeted during matches. The criminals obviously know the properties will be empty, and Roberto Firmino, Dirk Kurt and Steven Gerrard have all been victims in the past.
For Lovren, it’s the latest issue he’s had to deal with following a horrible few weeks which have included poor performances, injuries and death threats.
We’re not sure he’ll play against West Ham today, but hope he can use the international break to get his head in a better place before our busy festive period.
Regardless of your opinion of Lovren, we’ll need him during December before the January window opens.
