Surprise LFC transfer news: Liverpool want Ruben Neves’s CM partner at Wolves

Posted by

Remember when Liverpool were continually linked with Porto’s Ruben Neves? It went on for ages following the teenager’s superb performances in the Champions League, which saw him captain his hometown club to boot.

As a result, there was enormous surprise this summer when the Portuguese midfielder ended up signing for Wolves!

He’s done brilliantly in the Championship, with the midlands club currently top on 38 points.

We assumed Neves’s performances would mean Liverpool would again be keeping a close eye on him, but according to Moroccan news outlet Liberation – it’s his central midfield partner Romain Saiss we’re actually after.

The 27-year-old starts in the middle with Neves in a 3-4-3 formation and has been ever present this term, bar a suspension.

Saiss is feisty, technical and possesses a cultured left foot, although there’s never been any suggestion he’s destined for a Champions League club.

We’ve had Moroccans on our books in the past in Nabil El Zhar and Oussama Assaidi, but would be surprised if our interest in Saiss proved genuine.

He’s a decent player from what we’ve seen, but one more likely destined for a midtable Premier League club.

Emre Can and Jordan Henderson are much superior options to him in the anchorman role, anyway.

It’s elite DMC’s we should be chasing!
