€40m for a talented 24-year-old with consistent end product is cheap in today’s market…
But it feels slightly more expensive when the player in question once wore your team’s colour and was let go for nothing!
That’s the situation with AC Milan’s Suso and Liverpool’s reported interest, anyway.

According to AC Milan – TheOffside, the player is happy working under Gennaro Gattuso, but has a €40m release-clause which can be activated by any non-Italian side.
The Spaniard currently plays on AC Milan’s right, where he cuts in and does damage with his excellent left-foot – but Liverpool require a more central playmaker who would play on one side of a no.6.
Suso has this capability, we believe, just like Coutinho, now at Barcelona, who could start on the left or as a more traditional no.8 or no.10.
A technically adept playmaker is needed in the summer, as our brilliant front-three won’t be able to win every game by themselves – and sometimes a player capable of carving open a defence will be required.
Suso presents an interesting option, but we think Jurgen Klopp can do better.
