Jurgen Klopp managed to convince Fabinho that the Brazilian should sign for Liverpool and nobody else – and it worked.
Last night, seemingly out of nowhere, the club announced the transfer of AS Monaco’s 24-year-old midfield dynamo with immediate effect.

Klopp: Why I signed Fabinho & where he’ll play
According to Duncan Castles in Yahoo, who’s incidentally an enormous United fan with huge bias towards Jose Mourinho, Fabinho chose to reject the interest of multiple clubs, including our rivals, following a meeting with Klopp.
Castles writes:
“Klopp convinced Fabinho to join Liverpool,” the source told Yahoo Sport. “They met and the boy was very happy with what the manager told him. He said ‘I like Klopp’, and asked that everything be stopped with other clubs.”
In the piece, it’s mentioned that United, City, PSG and Juventus were all interested in Liverpool’s latest signing, so we’re delighted to have captured a midfielder of such elite potential.
Fabinho will add strength, technicality and defensive attributes to the holding role in Liverpool’s central three.
With Naby Keita arriving as well, the current batch, including captain Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum, have a real challenge on their hands to get in the team consistently.
But competition for places is healthy, and we’re just delighted the club is being so proactive in the market.
