The agent of Liverpool’s priority playmaker target Nabil Fekir wants Liverpool to reach an agreement with Lyon soon…
And he’s hinted that if we don’t, other clubs might be able to steal his client’s signature.
“Talks with Liverpool will only happen when there is an agreement with Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light,” Jean-Pierre Bernes told French outlet Le Progres.
“Liverpool’s interest exists, but for now nothing is done. The transfer window is long. Other clubs could show interest.”
There were rumours that Fekir would have a medical at Liverpool over the weekend, but these sadly proved false, despite reliable French journalists stating it as fact.
It’s now looking unlikely that Fekir will leave Lyon before the World Cup. If France do well, his stock and potential transfer fee could rise astronomically, which is annoying.
We’re not saying we hope he has a bad tournament, but it might help our chances of acquiring him if he is indeed the only man we want to replace Coutinho!
Fekir is perfect because he can play in multiple positions, scores and assists goals and has the kind of aggressive, fiery temperament our squad is lacking.
We’re very glad he’s on the radar and are delighted with our summer business so far, but Fekir would really top it off – providing we buy a keeper as well.
