Firmino says we should buy Alisson & that Brazilian pal likes LFC

Remember last summer when nearly every member of the Brazilian national team, past and present, stated that Coutinho should move to Barcelona?

It was beyond annoying, but to be honest, it’s quite nice to see Roberto Firmino persuading others to join him at Anfield rather than Marcelo, Neymar or whoever else tapping him up to join their clubs…

Bobby has spoken about Liverpool’s interest in Alisson, the AS Roma stopper who is our primary option to bolster the goalkeeping position.

The pair are currently on international duty together and will play for Brazil at the World Cup.

“Yes, he asked me about Liverpool and I hope he can come here, but I know he has other proposals,” said Firmino at a media conference, cited by the Echo.

“From time to time I will give him a pinch to come to Liverpool and help us, but it’s with his agents.

“It wouldn’t be bad if he came to Liverpool.”

Mirror correspondent Dave Maddock says that it’ll be ‘very difficult’ to buy Alisson and that we might turn our attention elsewhere…

Horribly, he suggests Southampton’s Alex McCarthy as an alternative – which is like going from competing at the Olympics to winning the egg and spoon race at school.

Roma obviously want a large fee, but we have money in the bank to spend on fixing the squad where it needs fixing…

And the spot between the sticks needs attention perhaps more urgently than any other.

If Alisson is the man Jurgen Klopp wants, he’s the player our hierarchy should secure.
