Dejan Lovren would be starting alongside Virgil van Dijk today if he wasn’t injured.
But the Croat has an issue with his stomach muscles that he didn’t tell the club about before his return to Melwood. The 29-year-old gave an interview yesterday with Sportske, translated by Goal, in which he explained the current situation and that the club ‘isn’t happy’.

The transfer window is now closed and with Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan also out, Jurgen Klopp’s only option to partner van Dijk is Joe Gomez – who’s been struggling with his fitness as well.
Lovren has been incredibly unprofessional not to inform the club at the first possible opportunity, and even more stupid to admit it so openly.
It seems every time he gives an interview he puts his foot in it, actually.
Obviously, we hope he gets healthy soon and can contribute, but many fans online are angry with Lovren.

I can see why some are pissed off at Lovren. He could have told he team during or after WC while window was open that this stomach issue was on going for month or so.

So Lovren pushed through the pain barrier to play in the World Cup Final. Can't blame him for that but to not tell Liverpool afterwards while enjoying holidaying on jet skis but then complaining he can't drive I am a little pissed at him. It's hardly professional.
