We’re confused and a little disappointed by what’s going on with Dejan Lovren right now…
The Croat gave an interview to Sportske [translated by Goal] in his home country this weekend, in which he claimed he’d miss an extended period for Liverpool due to stomach muscle injuries.
“I cannot train at all because of stomach muscle issues. I am suffering a lot of pain and will see a specialist doctor in the Netherlands,” he said.
“When did I start to feel it? I felt it during the World Cup. I played with pain and those three games killed me. But who wouldn’t play for Croatia at such a big tournament!
“After the World Cup finished, the pain increased. I can’t even sit in my car without feeling it and to get out of the car hurts like hell!”
Liverpool had no idea about this and we expected the 29-year-old to return to Melwood healthy – and that he’d be available not long after the start of the season…
Especially as just four days ago, Lovren gave the following interview to LFCTV, in which he suggests he’s fully fit and could even turn out against Torino, which was played last Tuesday.
It doesn’t add up, does it?
Lovren has lied about a fitness issue and not alerted the club – perhaps because the transfer window was still open for us to purchase a new centre-back.
It’s not impressive conduct. We’ll now wait to see what Jurgen Klopp does, as we cannot imagine he’ll have taken to Lovren’s behaviour kindly.
