Sadio Mane and Naby Keita go way back.
The pair played together for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, before the former joined Southampton and the latter Rb Leipzig.
As a result, they have a great friendship and on-pitch relationship. If you see from the first few games, the duo have often been right next to each in the offensive inside left channel, actually.
It’s a partnership that will reap its rewards by the end of the campaign, that’s for certain.
Mane has discussed his old, new team-mate and waxed lyrical about his ability, also stating that Keita is blown away by Liverpool as a club already.
“I think he brings plenty in our team and I think it’s also not easy for the new players to come into the Premier League but for him, he’s unbelievable,” he told Premier League Productions, cited by the official website.
“He’s started great and we are here to help him more to get to his best and I am sure he will do something special here.
before, we played together in Salzburg. [I was there for] two years and then I left and came to the Premier League and he went to Germany.
“Still we kept in touch all the time and the first time he talked to me about Liverpool I said ‘welcome, this is a family, not a club – you will enjoy it’. He is always telling me he can’t believe how amazing Liverpool is.”
Keita was brilliant against West Ham, very good at Crystal Palace, but a little off the pace v Brighton at the weekend. In fairness, so was Mane, so we hope the duo improve for the tricky trip to the King Power on Saturday.
Claude Puel’s side are probably the best we’ve faced so far, and with Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City three of the next four after, it’s imperative we pick up another win.
