The Mo Salah / Dejan Lovren bromance is back on!
Yesterday, Lovren uploaded a snap to his Instagram story which questioned the logic in the FIFPRO World XI, which saw his best pal left out, despite Salah being nominated as one of the best three players on the planet.
You can see the post below:
He’s not wrong! Salah being left out for Eden Hazard was ridiculous, but sums up how little FIFA’s Best Awards actually mean.
Our Croatian defender is expecting to return to the first-team this evening for the EFL Cup tie with Chelsea.
He’ll likely play alongside Joel Matip, which used to be Liverpool’s first-choice central defensive pairing.
Now though, Virgil van Dijk is the first name on the team-sheet and the superb Joe Gomez has rightly earned a spot alongside him following a great start to the season.
As a result, we reckon that regardless of what happens at Anfield, van Dijk and Gomez will be back in the side for the weekend trip to Stamford Bridge.
It’s fantastic that in Matip and Lovren, we have very high quality defenders in reserve, however.
