If you haven’t yet heard of Krzysztof Piatek, get googling!
The Polish 23-year-old has 13 goals already this season for Genoa – that’s the same as Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino combined.
He only arrived in Italy during the summer from the Polish leagues, but has taken Serie A by storm.
As a result, links to multiple clubs, including ourselves and Barcelona have surfaced, but it seems Piatek is currently happy where he is.
“The Barcelona interest in me – I heard, but I do not believe it – the broken records, including that of Shevchenko, for now I do not consider joining them too much. Maybe one day I will enjoy reading these things,” he told Polish outlet SportoweFakty, as cited on Calciomercato.
Piatek is a traditional striker who right now, simply can’t miss. He’s only started eight games for his new club, so is well above a goal per game on current form.
It’s no surprise comparisons have been made to Robert Lewandowski, who came from obscurity in his homeland to tear up the Bundesliga a few years back.
Despite the relative barren patch of our world-class trio, it’s not like Liverpool really need a new offensive spearhead.
We have Daniel Sturridge on the bench right now and the Englishman has four goals himself this term.
Firmino, Mane and Salah will start to fire again soon. Hopefully for Liverpool, it’ll be straight after the international break!
