70% of Reds would back Brazilian deal after Big News breaks in Spain

There’s a very interesting story in the Standard today, penned by respected Spanish football correspondent Ben Hayward, that suggests Coutinho could be sold in the summer so that Barca can afford to re-sign Neymar.

He claims that Barca have already spoken to Neymar about buying him back from PSG, and that they’d be willing to offload Coutinho, who currently can’t get into the side to make it happen.

Now, there’s every possibility that Phil will be back in Barca’s starting XI soon – and if he produces the goods – any talk of an exit would stop.

After all, it wasn’t long ago that Ousmane Dembele was being touted to leave. Now he’s one of the first names on the team-sheet.

We put the question to Liverpool fans on Twitter about if Coutinho was to leave in the summer 2019, should we be interested in securing a romantic return?

The results were interesting…

At the time of writing, more than 6,000 Reds have lodged a vote.

18% think Coutinho has made his bed and we shouldn’t even consider it

45% think we should consider it, but only for much less than we sold him

25% think we should get him back regardless of cost, such is his brilliance

12% think we should spend a huge amount on a different playmaker instead

So by our calculations, 70% of Liverpool fans would take Coutinho back if the opportunity arose.

For us, it’s a no-brainer. Coutinho was a magician for Liverpool and the idea of him re-entering this chiselled side that now has a defensive backbone and an anchorman like Fabinho is mouthwatering.

But it’s too early to discuss it at all, really. Let’s win the Premier League and worry about transfers when the party is over!
