Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer has lavished praise on Alisson, who will be in Liverpool’s net this evening for the Champions League tie at Anfield.

There were doubts if Neuer would be fit to play, but he came through Bayern’s last match with Augsburg and will definitely be in Niko Kovac’s starting XI today.

Alisson has been a revelation since arriving from AS Roma, helping to transform us into Premier League title challengers.

We almost won the Champions League last season, of course, with Loris Karius between the sticks – and Neuer has discusses the contrasting fortunes of both.

“I like his style. I’ve seen him at Rome, and I’ve seen him in the Brazil team, he’s doing a great job,” the legendary stopper told ESPN, before moving onto Karius…

“I was with the national team, and we all watched the game together. We hoped that he would do well — he’s a German keeper. I really felt for him. It was a sad day for goalkeepers.”

We’re glad Karius is happy with Besiktas, to be honest – and don’t really spend too much time thinking about him!

The important thing is we finally have an elite stopper between our sticks. Someone who commands his area, his defence and is capable of producing match winning saves.

If it wasn’t for Alisson’s effort v Napoli in the dying minutes of the final Group Stage match, we wouldn’t be preparing for a Last 16 tie at all.
