This is quality from Anfield Wrap contributor Craig Hannan; so good we felt the need to write an article on it!
The Liverpool fan tweeted a few days ago about the South American midfielders who arrived in the Premier League for big money during summer 2018 – and how we’ve actually got the best of the lot by some distance.
In November, Fabinho was being written off as a dud by many outside of Liverpool who didn’t understand Jurgen Klopp’s plans to bed him in tactically – labelling Jorginho and Lucas Torreira signings of the season instead.
But by February, Jorginho (and ultimately Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea tactics) has been utterly found out, Torreira has lost his form and £60m Fred is behind Scott McTominay and Andreas Perreira in United’s pecking order!
In a transfer window where Chelsea bought Jorginho, United bought Fred and Arsenal bought Torreria, thank fuck we got Fabinho. 🇧🇷

Fabinho on the other hand is putting in consistently superb performances at the base of Klopp’s midfield.
Against United on Sunday, he actually looked like one of our most composed operators and is clearly one of the first names on the manager’s team-sheet.
Imagine how good he’s going to be next season? Superb signing – and far more suited to us than Jorginho or Fred – who many Reds preferred at the time.
