Ben Woodburn spared Wales’ blushes night with a last-minute winner in a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago.
The teenager started the game and scored with his chest at the death, much to the delight of the watching crowd at the Racecourse Ground.
It’s a positive moment for Woodburn after what’s been a disappointing season.
He began it on loan at Sheffield United, but couldn’t get in Chris Wilder’s team and eventually had his loan deal cut short midway through the campaign.
Instead of joining another Championship outfit, Woodburn is currently getting matches in Premier League 2 for our Under-23 side – which is not exactly where we saw him progressing when he became our youngest ever goalscorer at the back end of 2016.
The key is a loan move to play under a manager who trusts him. Hopefully next season, he’ll get one.
