This probably won’t make very enjoyable reading for any Reds this morning – and for that – we apologise.
But last night was about fine margins and the little moments just went Barcelona’s way – hence their 3-0 victory despite Liverpool having more possession, more shots and more corners.
At 2-0, the tie was still fairly well poised, but Lionel Messi’s freekick likely puts it out of arm’s reach – although we’ll fight until the end at Anfield.
To win the deadball, Messi was fouled by Fabinho, who was adjudged to block the Argentine’s run – although this angle makes it look like Messi, with his arms up, jumped into our Brazilian anchorman.

To make matters more irritating, while we were getting ourselves sorted, Messi moved the ball at least five yards forward, to a spot where he could test Alisson.
He then went and did the rest himself, obviously, curling into the only part of the corner our stopper couldn’t cover.
The difference between the two sides at Camp Nou really was their diminutive, genius no.10 – an expert at the game’s delicacies but an underrated master of its dark arts, too.
This will make Liverpool feel even better.
Messi.
