LFC Legends faced off against their Borussia Dortmund counterparts in Hong Kong on Saturday, beating them 3-2 thanks to a late penalty from Kop legend Robbie Fowler.
2-2 at half-time thanks to a brace from Salif Diao, Dortmund’s legends were made to work at the Hong Kong Stadium.
But Fowler, acting as player-manager for a star-studded side that featured the likes of Steve McManaman, Luis Garcia, and Dirk Kuyt, calmly despatched from 12-yards with 11 minutes to play.
It was Garcia – moving like a greased eel in the box – who was taken down, gifting the Reds legends the chance to secure the win. Fowler then converted into the top-right corner in signature style.
After sealing victory, the Reds legends gathered by the goal with a host of press photographers.
A humble replica of the Champions League trophy was brought down to them and Fowler paid tribute to Jordan Henderson and Jürgen Klopp’s Reds with a similarly replicated trophy lift celebration.
