LFC ‘interfere’ with talks for elite 24-year-old – journalist

Another day, another link to Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes…

All the English journalists who closely report on Liverpool are suggesting there is no interest – but decent sources outside the country are more confident we’ll do some proper business this summer.

Pietro Balzano Prota is a journalist for Sport Mediaset in Italy – so we’re not sure how he has close links to either the player or the clubs involved – but he reckons we’ve decided to ‘interfere’ with Manchester United’s negotiations for the 24-year-old.

So where do we stand on this one?

Last summer, it was often foreign outlets who first broke news of our genuine interest in the likes of Nabil Fekir, Alisson, Fabinho and even Xherdan Shaqiri – so because the national press are in the dark – we shouldn’t necessarily believe no work is being done behind the scenes.

After what happened with Southampton reporting us for illegally approaching Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are now extra careful with leaking information regarding targets.

Do we need Fernandes? Probably not – in all fairness – but he’s undeniably a player of serious ability and someone whose technical, creative midfield style isn’t seen much in our squad right now.

Will it happen? Our guess is no.
