Manchester United favourite makes Reds admission as Red Devils struggle in the transfer market

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has admitted that his side faces an uphill battle to catch the Reds this coming season, saying that Liverpool’s success has made him even more hungry.

There was a huge gap between the top two in the Premier League last year, and while United have brought in a couple of players, including Aaron Wan Bissaka, nothing has really changed in terms of the gulf in class. Paul Pogba wants to leave, while bringing in quality is proving difficult for them.

While the Reds are in total control having won the Champions League, feeling there is no need to panic in the transfer market, United are desperately trying to attract players that will take them up a level. It’s a nice position to be in for Jurgen Klopp.

Rashford said, via the Liverpool ECHO: “That just makes it an even bigger challenge to us. We never shy away from a challenge and we have to move forward as a team.

“Last season wasn’t good enough. For us, we can’t look too far ahead, we just have to concentrate on ourselves.”

It certainly is a big challenge for United. In truth, they’d be lucky to make the top four next season – what a shame! The Reds travel to Old Trafford to face United on October 19.
