Divock Origi has been explaining why he has commited his long-term future to the Reds by signing a new contract – and it was a fairly simple decision.
After his herioc goals last season against the likes of Everton and Barcelona, no Reds fan would argue against the new contract being offered.
Origi took his time to sign, heading on holiday and returning to Melwood for pre-season before the contract extension was announced, but it was always going to get done in the end.
He always wanted to tie himself down at Anfield, where he is now a legend, with hopefully plenty more exciting moments to come.
Origi told LiverpoolFC.com: “It’s an amazing club, we have a good group, the staff are amazing. Even coming into Melwood, the people that work here and everything, you feel there is something special going on here.
“We’re still young so there’s a lot of potential in the group. I’m just having fun in training and on the pitch. Those are all important factors as a player. It’s exciting times.”
Origi scored some incredibly important goals for the Reds last season (and you can relive them all again by clicking here) – hopefully, next season brings more of the same.
He is likely to be involved against Tranmere Rovers on Thursday night as the Reds’ pre-season gets underway at Prenton Park. After everything he did last season, Origi – and the rest of the players – will be in for a fantastic reception.
