Manchester United man outlines how Reds ruined his summer

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw says Liverpool winning the Champions League in June ruined his summer break, with the Red Devils’ players unable to enjoy their holidays as a result of the triumph in Madrid.

The Reds will be right back in the mix for the top prizes this season, so that struggle for United’s players and fans is set to go on. Only a week or so ago, a Reds fan in Australia hired a plane to fly over United’s open training session to remind them who the Champions of Europe are.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a couple of players this summer, but the Reds and Manchester City are still streets ahead of them.

According to the Daily Mirror, Shaw said: “Last season was so hurtful for everyone. As a team were very hurt. It was really tough for all of us to take and you couldn’t really enjoy your holidays.

“You see the Champions League final and the Europa League final and they’re all English teams. It makes you feel even worse – especially the way the finals went [with the Reds winning number six]. None of us want that to happen again.”

The Reds travel to Old Trafford in October and host United at Anfield in January. Hopefully, there’ll be a couple of repeats of the 3-1 win the Reds secured at home last season when Xherdan Shaqiri was the hero.
