Liverpool reportedly made an enquiry for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele earlier this summer, according to one source.

The French international striker, who played for Celtic before heading to Ligue 1, is a player who will be interesting a number of clubs given the massive potential he has.

Many French football experts are tipping him to have a great season this year in France; if that is correct, his price-tag will rocket.

Last season, the 23-year-old scored 15 league goals and became a really crucial player for the French side, who finished in third place, three points behind Lille in second.

If the Reds were to go for Dembele, who was linked with a move to Anfield when he left the Scottish top flight for his home country, he would be an excellent acquisition.

The issue, as ever, would be convincing him that he will get enough minutes on the pitch – a problem that’s only going to get more common over the coming transfer windows with the Reds at such a high level.
