Fekir’s former agent tries to clear up circumstances behind failed Reds move

Nabil Fekir’s former agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has slammed the ‘show’ put on by his former client in a recent discussion of his failed Liverpool move.

Fekir declared that an ‘incredible amount of lies’ had been told about the situation and stressed that he had permanently ceased contact with Bernes.

Hitting back, Bernes emphasised the reasons for the collapse of the deal are clear.

He insisted that the our concerns about an underlying knee problem and a last-ditch attempt to restart negotiations scuppered the transfer.

“He has to stop this show and stop taking people for fools,” he told L’Equipe (via Sport Witness). “Everyone knows what happened.

“The transfer to Liverpool has turned around for two reasons.

“The first is his knee, even though the English club’s leaders were willing to make an effort on this.

“The second is the appearance of a foreign pseudo-representative who asked for the negotiations to be resumed from the beginning at the moment of signing.

“Between this episode and the medical visit, Liverpool’s leaders decided to abandon the case.”

Fekir left Lyon over the summer to join Real Betis and will be keen to put the episode behind him as Liverpool fans have done.

But that’s proving difficult for the player, who is now the subject of legal action from Bernes for an alleged unlawful breach of contract.
