Liverpool fans were put on alert by GOAL reporter Jack Sear, ahead of the Reds’ Champions League fixture against Australian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.
Sear Tweeted that there was no sign of Joel Matip or Sadio Mane in training as the lads warm up for the big mid-week clash at Anfield.

As stated by the reporter, it’s possible that duo could have been given a rest. He also notes that youngsters Yasser Larouci, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott all took part.
If Matip is injured, it’s fair to suggest that Joe Gomez comes into the side, and Larouci may be used as the full-back cover on the bench.
Ahead of our fixture with Salzburg, we speculated that Divock Origi may come into the fold as a way to give either Sadio or Bobby Firmino some time to breath.
The attacking duo had a full-on summer, and haven’t skipped a beat since kicking off the season with Liverpool – it could be a good opportunity to allow them some extra recovery time.
That being said, after the result in Naples, we need to win this game, and resting some of our star players could be a risk not worth taking just yet.
