‘Brilliant… but nowhere near over’: Some Reds fans react as eight-point gap opens up at the top

After the Reds made it eight wins from eight yesterday with a win over Leicester City, the gap to Manchester City increased to eight points at the top of the Premier League table.

Very few dared to think that it would stay like that come the end of the weekend, with Pep Guardiola’s men hosting Wolves at the Etihad Stadium, but it did.

A brace from Adama Traore, helped by some horrific defending from Nicolas Otamendi, gave the Midlands outfit a shock 0-2 victory.

The Reds, heading into the second international break of the season, having played the same number of Premier League games as Manchester City – eight – are eight points clear at the summit.

Liverpool face Manchester United next in the Premier League. That game will take place at Old Trafford on October 20.

Manchester City face a trip to Selhurst Park before then to play Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace the evening before.
