Philippe Coutinho, it would be more than fair to say, is not a player that many Reds fans have much love for any more.
Having forced his way out of Anfield in pursuit of a dream move to Barcelona, the Brazilian playmaker failed miserably at Camp Nou and now finds himself on loan at Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
According to Sport Bild, however, a German newspaper, there could be a very good reason for Reds fans to want Coutinho to have a great season this year.
They state that next summer, Bayern will sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sane plus either Coutinho on a permanent deal, or Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz. The German giants cannot afford to sign all three.

Sane's price should drop to €150m. He's still rejecting a new deal.

If Coutinho does well this year, they would be almost certain to go for him, meaning the Reds could then move for Havertz, who is an exceptional talent.
Next summer, the Reds will only move for real, genuine world-class stars, and Havertz would definitely fit the bill.
He would cost a huge amount, but would be well worth the fee, and if Bayern, a club who normally hoover up all the best young German talent, are out of the picture, that would be a huge boost to the Reds’ chances.
It might be time to put aside the Coutinho dislike and get fully behind him.
