Court date set for Liverpool and New Balance over kit deal impasse

Nike will have to wait in the wings as Liverpool and New Balance go to court over their disagreement over the manufacturing of the Reds’ kits for next season and onward.

Liverpool want to move ahead with Nike, but New Balance say that they’re entitled to manufacturer kits for next season as they’re willing to match Nike’s offer.

A meeting in the High Court has now been set for the 18th of October, as per the Echo – just seven days from the publication of this article.

New Balance’s current arrangement with the Anfield club is a £45million annual deal, set to run out at the end of this season, but they’re fighting to get another year out of it.

The same Echo report states that the court session will last a total of three days – so there should be some tangible updates around the 22nd of this month.

The club had previously confirmed that New Balance were taking legal action against them, and the confirmation of the court date now confirms that they’re pushing ahead.

It’s a shame that this couldn’t have been sorted out of the courts, as we’ve seemingly had a decent relationship with our manufacturers since 2015.
