Manchester United’s potential XI v LFC; Injuries mean strange side likely to start

Manchester United are going to be without a number of their best players for the Liverpool game on Sunday.

On paper their potential XI looks fairly weak – but we know that at Old Trafford – form will go out of the window and the occasion will be one that brings the level of our opponents up.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are not going to be fit to play – while claiming Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Anthony Martial are back in training but may only be ready for ’30 minutes’.

Assuming they’ll be on the bench, United’s lineup may look something like this:

Romero; Dalot; Young; Maguire, Lindelof; Matic, McTominay; James, Mata, Pereira; Rashford

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be at full strength, with Alisson returning between the sticks and Joel Matip lining up alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of our defence.

The only area where Jurgen Klopp’s selection is potentially contentious is midfield – but we’re confident he’ll go with his tried and trusted trio: Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.
