Barcelona still dealing with aftershocks of Anfield destruction at LFC’s hands

La Liga giants Barcelona are still suffering from ‘post traumatic stress‘ even four months after the now famous 4-0 thrashing at Anfield.

The Catalan outfit were humbled inside the bubbling cauldron that is the home of the Reds, after putting in an impressive shift against us at the Camp Nou just a week prior.

The 4-3 aggregate scoreline sent shock waves around European football as Liverpool signalled to the rest of the world: we are back.

And even now, according to fresh reports from Spanish publications AS, Mundo Deportivo and La Vanguardia, via Sport Witness, some Barca players are still living with the nightmare.

It has been labelled as ‘Anfield syndrome‘ by one of the reports, and several of the aforementioned outlets have claimed that the result was ‘cruel’ to the Catalans.

In their latest outing, Barcelona were thrashed 3-1 by Levante, as they conceded three times within seven minutes, and they don’t look like their usual selves.

They’re seemingly still living with their demons, and this was evident at the end of last season too. The Catalonia club crashed out of the Champions League, thanks in no small part to Divock Origi, and then went on to lose the Copa del Rey final to Valencia.
