Rb Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed that his side are talking with Liverpool about Takumi Minamino – describing it as an ‘honour’ that we’re keen on his services.
“I can confirm that there are currently discussions with Liverpool. It is an honour this club is interested in our players,” he said, reported by his club’s official Twitter account.
Independent journalist Melissa Reddy has already claimed a transfer has been agreed, while Mirror reporter Dave Maddock says that Liverpool believe the ‘deal is done’.
We won’t get too excited until Liverpool officially announce the transfer, but it very much looks like the transfer will go through…
Minamino is a versatile attacker who’ll provide support for Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in the second-half of the season.
In fact, we’d imagine the only people not too happy with the prospective deal are Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi – who now face further competition for minutes!
For just £7.25m, which is Minamino’s release-clause, this deal is basically risk-free.
