Sevilla’s match winner Coke has decided to take a dig at our fans in the aftermath of our 3-1 Europa League final loss on Wednesday night.
He bagged two second-half goals – one of which was a lovely strike and one of which was shrouded in controversy – to help his club take their third successive title.
And not content with simply picking up his winners medal, he made some controversial comments.
“We knew we were not very many Sevilla fans in the stadium. But each one is worth four [Liverpool fans].
“Thanks to everyone who believed in us, who paid the money to be here. This is for the fans to enjoy.” (via Echo)
Did he not see the atmosphere at Anfield during our run to the final? The wonderful songs? The undying passion? To be fair to the Sevilla fans, they were in fine voice last night – but surely his comments are just unnecessary salt in the wound?
