Liverpool look likely to qualify from our UEFA Youth League group following today’s 3-0 victory over Maribor at Prenton Park, meaning Steven Gerrard will be leading them into the knockout stages after Christmas.
Ben Woodburn captained the side and put in a dominant display against the visiting Slovenians.
The Welshman scored from the spot, while Curtis Jones and Glen McAuley got the others.

Ben Woodburn is about to steal the headlines once again
We won the reverse fixture 4-1, so hopefully the first-team will follow up the youngsters’ easy win tonight as well.
The excellent Kamil Grabara did not have much to do, while Woodburn pulled the strings at a level he’s realistically already too good for, despite only turning 18 two weeks ago.
Bobby Adekanye was also impressive, but was consistently denied by Maribor’s plucky stopper and missed out on a deserved goal.
Young Norwegian midfielder Edvard Tagseth also did well, proving that if you have technical ability and bravery on the ball, size and strength is less important.
He’s another one we have very high hopes for.
Well done, lads!
