Thank you Ref.! Vol.2

Posted by

I assume that the majority of Liverpool Fans also did watch the match between Chelsea and Manchster Utd. on Saturday. I have to admit, it was a pleasure to watch ManU struggling by not having Wayne Rooney on the pitch. I also have to admit, I was pleased for Chelsea winning the match and this do not happen so often, obviously.

But I also felt a bit insulted by the referee and the decisions he made. I think, nobody will disagree neither with me nor with the rest of the population, that Didier Drogba WAS genuine offside and that United’s goal was scored WITH a hand. So, my question is: Where, for heaven’s sake, was the referee at the moment??!! Where were all of them??!! What were they looking at? It wasn’t an evening match, as far as I know. It was bright enough, as far as I can remember.

My question is, why did the referee let those two goals count? Why Torres’ goal againts Benfica didn’t then? Why the referees are always trying to demolish us and let the other teams (Chelsea vs. ManU) win like that? Why did the beach-bal-goal count? I have this strange feeling that this matchagaints Sunderland at the start of the s was the beginning of our most poor season. I’m trying to comprehend this,  it is not easy, though.

Can someone follow this situation? Can someone follow the decisions? Can someone give me some answers? Please. Thank you.

  1. Bygones. Let it go. Yes, we have lost a couple of points due to bad refereeing but if we loose out on the CL spot, even if by 1 point, we can only blame ourselves. The unrest in and around the club, the pro/anti Rafa debate, Alonso, Aquilani, injuries, lack of squad-depth etc. are problems, mainly brought upon us, by us. “If it doesn´t kill you, it will make you stronger”. So lets learn from this season, lets believe the owners, the staff and the players have learned from it and lets win this sucker next season!

  2. It’s comes and goes, will you complain if we sneak 3 points from an appauling referring decision? At present you have to take it, if the Ref or the linesman didn’t spot it then it’s not going to be given, and you can’t go back and change it. Yes they can look at challenges as unless you are in the ref’s shoes you cannot see what he see’s. Kuyt was offside and did attempt to interfere with play so by the rules of the game the goal won’t stand. But as ferry man said if we don’t acheive anything this year it is down to the team and the club, not ref’s decisions. If a bad decision constantly effects there mood then they should consider if they are in the right profession. Ref’s will and have always mad bad judgement calls, but they have also made the correct ones over time. It’s not like we’ve ever finished 8th in the league! (that was sarcasm incase you wondered, there have been numerous times in the past 20 years we have finished out of the top four, it’s not the end of the world, it’s how we come back next year is what matters.

  3. I know it’s not the end of the world and we can only blame ourselves. But, It’s the ijustice that drives me mad.
True, all the debetas on Aquilani, Torres on or off, Ngog on or off, Stevie, Insua, Babel, Luca etc do not bring us further. We should (and firts of all should the team)concentrate on the play and on the performance on the pitch. I assume, not only I am sick and tired of those debates … let’s hope, the next season will be better.

  4. But unfortunatly it’s the injustice that makes football just that. If we had video technology in the game it would be so boring, alot of great players would leave the league in my opinion, how would Drogba practise for the world diving championships, would people who loose there balance after a tackle be penalised? I would like goal line technology and thats it. Remember your probably watching the game on the telly and have the opportunity of video replays and Andy gray telling you how it is.

  5. But well, see how the referee responded on Torres’ goal against Benfica? At first, (I think) he blew for a goal (that Torres struck). A few seconds later, he blew the whistle again for an offside. The referee can really change the situations. Talk about professionalism? NOPE. If every call is that way, then a miscued (caused by wet pitch, uneven pitch, etc.) penalty can be taken again. Am I right?

  6. no point moaning about our misfortune now, we should have played better football so that all these incidents would be just side notes.. :/
