Liverpool have been strongly linked with a Xherdan Shaqiri transfer swoop in recent weeks, with Bayern Munich reportedly open to the possibility of a sale.
The Swiss playmaker’s agent has given an interview with Italian radio station Centro Suono Sport on his client’s future, stating that although Shaqiri is not enjoying his lack of minutes at the Allianz Arena, a January transfer will be difficult.
It is a difficult situation right now,” Ulisse Savini has been quoted as telling the broadcaster by Inside Futbol.
“I doubt he can switch in January.
“He has played in the Champions League and cannot be used there [by another club].
“This complicates the agreement, since it would be for a lot of money.
“And I doubt that Bayern can find a replacement of his level.”
It’s fair to say that Liverpool are missing some creativity and dynamism in attack in the absence of Luis Suarez, and Shaqiri’s wand of a left foot offers superb delivery from both set pieces and open play.
A transfer to Anfield could be perfect for all parties. Liverpool’s squad and first team improves, Shaqiri gets his career back on track after it stalled at Bayern Munich, and the Bavarian giants get an unwanted player off their books.
As ever though, concluding a transfer deal remains an arduous task, and so many factors can tip the balance either way. Shaqiri’s future remains up in the air.
