Transfer madness: Entire XI of players linked with January moves to Liverpool, including three Serie A stars

Posted by

Eleven players all heavily linked to Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window…

If all these (occasionally ridiculous) rumours were to be believed, we’d have a completely different starting XI by the end of January…

To be clear – we’re NOT saying all of these, or any of these will happen – we just thought it’d be interesting to shape an entirely new side based on the players most consistently linked…

GK) Guillermo Ochoa – Malaga

The Express reckons that the Mexican has already agreed to move to Liverpool, with the club playing £3m in transfer fees. The Mexican stopper started following Liverpool on Twitter just minutes after it was announced that Brendan Rodgers had dropped Simon Mignolet for the Man United clash, oddly.

DR) Martin Montoya – Barcelona

The Guardian claims we’re the favourites to sign Montoya. The 23-year-old Spaniard is definitely leaving during the upcoming transfer window, but a number of Premier League clubs are apparently interested in his services also. “He is going to go in January and all that has to be done is to reach an agreement with Barcelona,” Montoya’s agent Juan de Dios Carrasco claimed.

DL) Luca Antonelli – Genoa

Eurosport linked the 27-year-old Italian left-back to us on the basis of some interesting player quotes. “My dream one day is to play for Liverpool,” he said. Antonelli has starred for Genoa, who are performing way above expectations in Serie A.

DC) Jan Vertonghen – Tottenham

The Mirror (and countless other papers) suggested that we’d make a serious move for Tottenham’s Belgian defender, who still hasn’t agreed to sign a contract extension at White Hart Lane.

DC) Ron Vlaar – Aston Villa

talkSPORT reckon Napoli will battle both Manchester United and Liverpool for the services of the World Cup star in January, mainly because his contract expires in the summer. Vlaar’s ageing and relatively immobile, but defensively solid.
