Analysing the bizarre Xherdan Shaqiri transfer stories – including new claims from Switzerland

Swiss playmaker moving to Italy, and not to the Premier League…

talkSPORT reckons that Serie A giants Inter Milan are closing in on the signature of Xherdan Shaqiri, the Swiss playmaker who’s been the subject of heavy Liverpool interest…

The deal will be a temporary one, with Roberto Mancini having already finalised a loan deal for Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski.

However, Sky Sports reckon that even if the Italians do secure the 23-year-old on loan, Liverpool will still be interested in signing him permanently in the summer. In fact, we could even sign him permanently now, before loaning him to Inter for six months, they claim.

The thought of acquiring an exciting name like Shaqiri before loaning him to Italy, especially considering the fact that Adam Lallana will be out for a month, seems simply ridiculous.

Swiss paper Blick thinks that we’ve already agreed personal terms with Shaqiri to sign in the summer, but reckons that we don’t have the cash to buy him permanently this January!

This is why Inter are frontrunners for his signature, but why then is a loan deal to Liverpool not being mooted…?

And have Juventus left the race for his signature, temporary or otherwise?

What is certain is that Bayern Munich want a transfer out of the club finalised within the next 72 hours. The Bundesliga champions then travel to Qatar for a training camp until January 17, where negotiating a transfer will be far more difficult.

The truth? Who knows!
