Liverpool owner John W Henry and his wife Linda Pizzuti Henry will be at the Liverpool match against Tottenham Hotspur this evening.
The 65 year-old American investor doesn’t attend games as often as some other club owners, but does tend to be seen in the stands for big matches – and this clash against fellow top four contenders Spurs at Anfield represents a key fixture in the calendar.
Brendan Rodgers will be pleased to see Henry at a time when the Reds are playing well.
With most of the club’s summer signings taking time to adapt to our tactics and style, the team understandably went through something of a transition period. Recent weeks have shown signs of improvement though – despite a tepid Merseyside derby against Everton – and Rodgers will feel under less pressure than a few months ago.
Although Henry’s visit coincides with a big game in the Tottenham test, it may not be mere coincidence that he is arriving when Raheem Sterling is stalling over a new contract.
Perhaps this is a deal that our owner wishes to handle personally.
