As the Daily Mail reports, the free-scoring Dutch forward is a major transfer target for both Liverpool and Manchester United, after scoring 27 goals in all competitions for PSV Eindhoven this season.

What promises to be one of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer has been steadily heating up over the last week or so, with plenty of speculation over his potential destination. The 21-year-old has already been forced to deny reports that he’s spoken to United, while the Daily Mirror later suggested that he’s already held talks with us.

Depay has certainly been open with his desire to make a switch to the Premier League later in the year, with the Mail quoting him as saying: “It is a dream to make a transfer with such a big impact.

“But I already said, there is a lot of speculation and a lot of stories, but I don’t know how things will work out, so let’s wait and see.

“It would be great to go to one of the big competitions this summer but for now I don’t want to speak about that.”

However, his choice in club still remains largely unclear, despite today’s latest twist. This is, after all, not the first time he’s been caught out on social media.

As the Daily Star tells us, Depay has already favourited a Tweet from a Manchester United fan who threatened to ‘consider ending his life’ if he joined Liverpool, while he also favourited a link to a report claiming that he was about to move to Old Trafford.
