Raheem Sterling will ask to leave Liverpool in the summer

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and looked set to leave the club where he has spent the last five years, due to a lack of opportunities in his preferred position of central midfield. The Daily Mirror reported last week that Anfield was his preferred destination.

But the Citizens are desperate to keep him at the club, and will make one final offer in their attempt to prove it. The Daily Star suggest that they will offer him £165,000 a week with bonuses, which would put him only behind Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure as the side’s highest paid player.

However, the Star suggest that the England international is still planning to leave the club, despite their offer.

Milner has proved his value this year, and has stepped out of the shadows among a City side full of star names. His experience and versatility would really help our side as we try to adjust to the loss of Steven Gerrard. He is not of the same quality, but, he does provide a similar amount of reliability that will allow the creative members of the squad to work their magic.

There’s no way we should be paying him anywhere near the sum City are apparently prepared to, of course.
