According to Metro, the French hotshot could be the man that Brendan Rodgers decides is the answer to our goalscoring problems.

The 24-year-old has been in blistering form for the league runners up, and bagged 31 strikes in all competitions. Understandably, he has been attracting the attention of the very best sides around Europe.

Given the interest in the forward, it is likely that we will have to be willing to spend a considerable amount on him, which may prove to be a stumbling block as we try and secure other deals, including the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

According to the Daily Star, the Belgian could become a Red for £32.5m. However, if it is a choice between the two, surely there is little question about which avenue we should pursue.

Lacazette has been in sensational form for the entire year, and has done it at the business end of the table. While the French top flight may not represent the same standard as the Premier League, the fact that Lyon spent so long battling it out with Paris Saint-Germain is testament to his impact.

We’d simply love him to sign – and think the board need to move heaven and earth to make it happen.
