Coutinho raves after seeing Roberto Firmino in Liverpool training

One of the most exciting things about this season is that two of Brazil’s starting four attackers will be starting for Liverpool as well, in Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

While the former was our Player of the Season in 2014/15, we acquired his international team-mate, also 23, from Hoffenheim at the start of the summer.

Fans cannot wait to see the pair in Liverpool tandem, and many reckon they could help us secure a top four finish.

“Firmino is a great player and character – he was thoroughly welcomed by everyone in the dressing room. We can notice his skills by watching him in training,” Coutinho told the official website.

“He’s a very intelligent player and everybody is glad about how he’s settled into the squad. I’m sure he will be of great help to Liverpool and will bring joy to our supporters.

“Everybody is looking forward to the start of the league and we’re all keen to see him and all of the new boys on the pitch.

“Firmino was playing in a league which is very similar to the Premier League,” added Liverpool’s No.10.

“We’re all happy that he has chosen Liverpool as he’s an awesome player. I hope he can score many goals and help us.”

We’re going to have to wait to see Firmino though, as Brendan Rodgers is expected to select Jordon Ibe versus Stoke instead, so the Brazilian can continue working on his fitness (via the Echo).

If Ibe does well, it’ll be interesting to see how the manager decides to introduce Firmino into the side. It’s possible that he could use a 4-2-3-1 formation, with James Milner and Jordan Henderson the midfield pivotal, Coutinh0 in his creative no.10 role, and Jordon Ibe and Roberto Firmino flanking Christian Benteke up top.

With Daniel Sturridge returning and Adam Lallana and Emre Can providing further options, the squad looks strong, deep and adaptable.
