German journalist claims Liverpool will ‘go big’ for Bundesliga playmaker

Liverpool will go all out to sign Schalke wonderkid Leroy Sane in an upcoming transfer window, claims former Premier League striker and current Bundesliga expert/pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft.

The Norwegian was one of the first to break the ‘Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool’ news last month, and now predicts we’ll make a bid for the impressive playmaker.

Sane is 19-years-old and has been so impressive this term he’s been called up to Germany’s squad for their upcoming international friendlies. No mean feat considering the competition in attacking midfield. As Squawka state, no other Under-21 player in Europe has been involved in as many goals this term, with Sane scoring four and assisting three in the league – and registering one of each in Europe so far.

The prodigy can play on either flank or behind a centre-forward, but is most comfortable on the right, where he can cut infield, join up with play and shoot on goal.

His close control is excellent and his pace makes him a superb dribbler, although like our own teenager prodigy Jordon Ibe, his crossing needs improvement.

We’d be surprised if we did go in for Sane in all honesty, with the likes of Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Ibe already battling for the attacking midfield spots. Alex Pato has also been heavily linked recently (via the Mirror), but we reckon transfers are perhaps the last thing on the new manager’s mind right now.
