Jordon Ibe injury update – Winger withdraws from England-U21s

Although wonderkid winger Jordon Ibe will miss England Under-21’s fixtures during the international break, he should be back for Liverpool’s trip to Manchester City, more importantly.

Because of all the worry about Mamadou Sakho, it went under the radar that the 19-year-old flyer also picked up a problem during Sunday’s defeat to Crystal Palace, but the Echo confirm that his injury is not serious.

Ibe’s been one of our most transformed players since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, who’s given him two consecutive starts on the right wing.

The teenage starlet scored his first Liverpool goal during last week’s Europa League trip to Russia, and was one of our better performers in the disappointing Anfield loss at the weekend.

As a result it’s crucial that he remains healthy, as his pace and directness offers us a different option in attacking midfield to our silkier playmakers Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana.

Ibe will now stay at Melwood for two weeks in preparation for the Etihad clash.
